THE KING IN HIS MOTOR CAR

The following images are from the book "King's Empire" published in 2 volumes the early 1900s. The photographs were taken at the height of the British Empire. The books are available in higher resolution for download as PDF ebooks at www.ozebook.com

THE KING IN HIS MOTOR CAR. Everyone is aware that Edward VII. is very fond of motoring, and that he takes long rides over many parts of the country. Our picture shows him paying a visit to the pretty Surrey village of Camberley, which is gaily decorated with flags for the occasion. Thousands of people have come from the surrounding towns and villages that they may see and cheer their Sovereign. Near the car stand aged men with raised hats, farther off are children with bared heads. Outside the elementary schools his Majesty, with his usual kindness, stopped his car while the scholars raised their sweet young voices to sing the National Anthem. (Page I.)
